The strategy was to use event and runner focused creative to really grab peoples attention. The ads included many of the high profile Irish challengers that were running in the UK and how you could benefit when they win. The message was clear and concise and was always relevant to that days racing.

Today is the highlight of the Cheltenham festival with the clash of Long Run and Kauto Star in the Gold Cup. We are running an extensive online and mobile campaign for Tote Ireland encouraging sign ups and highlighting the value offered by the range of betting options with the Tote. For example, the placepot returned €4,332.10 for €1 this day last year. If you fancy a flutter the Tote is offering a €10 free bet for all new customers.

It is estimated that betting turnover during Cheltenham will be over £500, online and mobile are taking an increasing share. A recent report by H2 Gambling Capital estimates that the last year's mobile gambling market's value was around €2.22 billion, a huge sum for such a young market. Currently, 77% of all mobile gambling activities are made of online sports betting. In Ireland, a Red C study reveals that by the end of 2012, 71% of the Irish population expect to own a smartphone, while 41% expect to own a tablet.

The HSF have invested in a press, radio & online display and search campaign to increase awareness and recruit new customers for their affordable health plans.

“People with health insurance are likely to be hit with further hikes after the Government decided to increase the levy on policies by 40%...this will mean a family of two adults and two children could pay as much as €220 more for health cover annually if insurance companies pass on the increases.” Conor Pope Irish Times Jan 2012.

Given the rising costs of Private Medical Insurance, the HSF campaign emphasizes the value their health plans offer (starting at only €9.50 per month), which have not increased in cost. We created a page takeover on Independent.ie to highlight this value and the range of cover offered.

The January 2011 campaign saw an increase in calls by 500 per cent to HSF’s call centre in Ennis.
